Sketchbook original drawing, drawn with light fast inks on location 22cm x 24cm
This tree is down on the Hackney Marshes. It seems like a lot of people found some solace walking here over the lockdown. Its now a very busy place, always a football match playing, dog walkers galore and even during the summer theres bathers in the river Lea.
Ive always been slightly obsessed with this place after watching “Hackney Marshes” by @theotherjohnsmith . The thought that always comes to mind when im walking here is the reason why the marsh is so flat and can accommodate so many football pitches is that most of the rumble from blown out buildings during the bombing raids made in the second world war was brought here and levelled out to make this old marsh land the flat expanse that it is now.
